This sports car is based on a short wheel base chassis of the British car manufacturer Lea-Francis. It was built by Cowell & Watson as a prototype for a planned small series. However, only two examples were made, making this Lea-Francis a very rare sight. The body design was drawn by Dennis Jenkinson, who had made a name for himself as co-driver of Eric Oliver (world champion sidecar racer) and in 1955 as co-driver of Stirling Moss. This sports car, weighing around 900 kg, was powered by a four-cylinder engine with 1,767 cc and 90 hp, which was technically very advanced at the time. With this power, this Lea-Francis was attested a top speed of 170 km/h.

This Lea-Francis 14 HP Sports Cowell Special Prototype has an extensive history and we have many contemporary documents about it, which describe the uniqueness of this vehicle in an impressive way. Of particularly note is the original Lea-Francis owner’s manual for the 14hp-models. The last owner and enthusiast of this vehicle has spared no expense and effort to keep this Lea-Francis in perfect and original condition. In expert circles, this exotic Lea-Francis is a well-known and respected heritage car.

With this unique Sports Roadster you will always be a welcome participant and sympathizer at all classic car and concours events.
