Crosslé 9S
First registration 05.1966
Phenomenal power-to-weight ratio
Swiss road registration
The Crosslé 9S is neither an actual racing car nor a production sports car, but both in one.
The one offered here was completely rebuilt by the Swiss Crosslé specialist and importer, with a 2-liter Ford engine with approx. 200 hp, a Hewland MK9 5-speed racing gearbox and a dry weight of approx. 530 kg, imagine the power-to-weight ratio. The owner at the time successfully contested a few races in the British Sportscar Cup with the car in 2006, before everything was overhauled again in 2013 and the car was no longer used in races.
This phenomenal Crosslé 9S with Swiss road registration has always been cherished and cared for, regularly serviced by professionals and is in top condition, ready for new adventures.
The brand, which bears a crusader’s sword in its emblem, was founded by John and Rosemary Crosslé in Ireland in 1957. Initially, the focus was on the production of formula cars such as Formula Junior, Formula Ford, Formula 2 and even Formula 5000. The Formula Ford cars in particular were very popular with racing schools in Great Britain and Ireland due to their quality. Many well-known drivers, including later Grand Prix drivers such as Nigel Mansell, Eddie Irvine, Johnny Dumfries and John Watson, gained their first racing experience at the wheel of a Crosslé.
Later, the company also began building small open-top sports cars. One of these models was the Crosslé 9S, which caused a sensation in various racing series in the 1960s. This model is still produced for motorsport today and can be driven on the road in a tamer version with lights, indicators and other “amenities” thanks to the appropriate equipment and individual approval.
