Frame-off full restoration in Switzerland between 2006 and 2013
Swiss Road Registration with „Veteran“ entry
The world premiere of the Aston Martin DB2 was in 1950 at the New York Auto Show. Another new feature was the 2.6-litre six-cylinder in-line engine, which replaced the brand’s previous four-cylinder engines. David Brown had bought up the rival brand Lagonda in order to obtain this engine construction by Walter Owen Bentley. With chassis numbers 2, 3 and 4, the factory again took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and repeated this in 1951. In these racing cars, larger carburettors and a higher compression were tested, which increased the engine power durably by 20 to 125 hp. These modifications were then adopted in series production from 1951 in the more powerful Vantage version.
This Aston Martin DB2 Vantage was delivered in 1953 by Limmat Garage AG Josef Stierli & Co in Zurich to the then new car buyer. In about 1960, the car was decommissioned and remained a sleeping beauty until it was registered to only its second owner in 2016. To awaken it from its dormant state, it required an elaborate complete restoration between 2006 and 2013. Around 5,000 hours of work by the best specialists in Switzerland went into the restoration and the owner thereby invested over CHF 500,000 in this breathtakingly beautiful DB2 Vantage. Also worthy of special mention is the paint job with a clear coat using nanotechnology, which was carried out by Peter Sahli in Aesch-Zurich, who was a specialist in automotive rarities. Comprehensive photo and invoice documents attest to the work performed. The car also comes with the Aston Martin “birth certificate” and the original cloth paper vehicle registration document of the first owner.
We are offering an Aston Martin DB2 Vantage with exclusively Swiss car history, restored to the very highest standard and representing an almost unique opportunity.
