Studebaker Avanti R1
First registration 02.1964
Matching numbers
Swiss road registration with veteran entry
While the Corvette from Chevrolet found a considerable distribution in Switzerland, only a few dozen Studebaker Avanti came into our country. Yet its lines speak a clearly extravagant language. The Studebaker Avanti R1 offered here was registered for the first time in Switzerland on February 01, 1964 in Zurich. It was ordered in 13 P 6434 Avanti Red, original production card or a copy of the production records is available. It is matching numbers and veteran-approved. The car has been in the same ownership for a long time and has been regularly serviced and maintained. Original owner’s manual, parts catalog and authenticity manual are present as well as many invoices. This beautiful Studebaker Avanti is in very original and well maintained collector condition.
The Studebaker Avanti was a sports coupe originally produced by the American automaker Studebaker Corporation from June 1962 to December 1963.
The body line, very advanced for the time, was drawn by a team of designers led by French industrial designer Raymond Loewy. Avanti means forward or progress in Italian. Indeed, the Avanti was very progressive, with front disc brakes standard for the first time on a U.S. car, a smooth front end without a grille, optional seat belts, safety door locks and an integrated roll bar, as well as the great attention the designers paid to good aerodynamics.
