Gordon Murray owns one. A Lotus Elan Sprint. In an interview with the British car magazine “EVO”, he was asked which he thought was the best car he had ever driven. Without hesitation he fired back: „The Lotus Elan. I’ve never driven anything better. Including the McLaren F1.“ Gordon Murray is one of the most successful constructors in Formula 1, is the „father“ of the super sports car McLaren F1 from the nineties and is currently outperforming all hyper sports cars with his new GMA T.50.

This Lotus Elan with the 1.6-litre Twincam engine has been optimised to a durable 165 hp. The engine was rebuilt with tuning stage SR3 and perfectly tuned at a cost of CHF 23,000. An “Accusump” oil pressure accumulator ensures optimum oil pressure at all times and guarantees healthy lubrication in the engine in all driving conditions. Optically and technically, this Elan was even further upgraded with components from the “26R”. This also includes the lightweight original rims and strong braking system. Accordingly, the chassis has also been adapted to the performance figures. The total investment in the mechanical components was almost CHF 90’000. The soft top was also renewed as part of the improvements. This Lotus Elan in the look of the “26R” is in a magnificent condition and its performance is breathtakingly fast.
