The Swinging Sixties were just beginning to gain momentum when Jaguar made a brilliant design statement at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961, the impact of which would go beyond that of an iconic new sports car. For with its sensually charged forms, its bold proportions – eternally long hood, short rear end with side-opening tailgate – the new Jaguar E-Type marked a new era.

The design of the Jaguar E-Type came from Malcolm Sayers – the special appeal lay in the combination of charisma and driving performance. This Jaguar was intended to replace the D-Type used in racing, but was modified for road use after retiring from motorsport. The E-Type competed in terms of performance with sports cars of the highest performance class, which were, however, twice as expensive.

This Jaguar E-Type with 4.2-liter is already the advanced version after the 3.8-liter and therefore has the fully synchronized 4-speed transmission. The visual characteristics of the Series 1 make this E-Type the most desirable collector’s item and its filigree elegance is unfortunately no longer achieved by the later models.

Between 2005 and 2015, this E-Type was completely disassembled and extensively restored. A detailed photo documentation proves the corresponding work. It is a Swiss first delivery by Emil Frey Zurich with Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, Matching numbers and colors, FIVA Identity Card and is freshly veteran-approved.
