BMW Isetta 300 – Because the smallest things often bring the greatest joy.
The BMW Isetta is an iconic “scooter car” that was built from 1955 to 1962. Known as the “Knutschkugel” (kissing ball), it is considered the vehicle that saved BMW from financial ruin in the post-war period.

The 300 is powered by an air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a displacement of 298 cm³, derived from the BMW R25 motorcycle. In 1959–60, over 1,500 units of a three-wheeled variant were produced for export, primarily to Austria, Denmark, and England, based on the “BMW Isetta 300 Export.” In those countries, owners took advantage of favorable tax rates and the ability to drive with a motorcycle license due to its classification as a motorcycle.

The BMW Isetta 300 offered here is one such three-wheeled variant. It was completed in early May 1959 and delivered a few days later to the car dealer Vilh. Nellemann A/S in Aarhus, Denmark. In 1986, the Motocoupé found its way to Switzerland and was first presented to the Zurich Cantonal Road Traffic Office in mid-2018. The BMW birth certificate and copies of the original customs certificate and Danish registration from 1959 are available. This beautiful “Knutschkugel” is in top-maintained, very original collector’s condition and is looking for a new home.
