Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Am
First registration 02.1968
FiA papers
Swiss road registration
The Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Am offered here was, according to the history handed down to us (all names are known), acquired in the early 70’s by Rosario, an Italian gentleman and rebuilt as a racing car with many original parts from Auto Delta. The GT Am was equipped with a narrow head 8V engine.
Rosario and his teammate Romeo participated in various Group 2 races, including the 1974 Targa Florio.
The car was originally delivered in red in 1968 and was later repainted in yellow by Rosario. The engine was also converted to 4V with fuel injection.
Rosario used the GT Am until the end of the 70s.
When Rosario died, his son Salvatore inherited the car. He completely disassembled the car to restore it. Since he finally lacked the financial means to complete the total restoration, the GT Am stood disassembled until 2006. Salvatore decided to sell it. The buyer, Antonio, also in Italy, completed the car again with the supplied parts and changed the engine back to the original narrow head without fuel injection.
Among other things, the GT Am was painted white and wrapped with the Kent livery.
Antonio took part in several Group 2 races:
2006
Rally Sprint Castello
1st Rally Automobili Club Palermo
Rally Trapani-Erice
Rally Cefalu-Gibilmanna
Rally Castello di Venere
2008
Targa Florio
Several times in the Peroni Championship
Coppa Intereuropa Monza
In 2009 the GT Am was purchased by a Swiss who completely rebuilt the car. Among other things, the engine was revised by none other than the well-known Alfa Romeo legend Facetti (ex Auto Delta).
In 2012, it then participated in the 1000 km Coppa Intereuropa in Monza.
The last entries of this beautiful Alfa Romeo GT Am were in 2016 very successful the Tour-Auto and Arosa ClassicCar. The car has current FiA papers, a technical passport and a Swiss road registration. The original registration papers from 1968 and license plates from Italy are present as well as photos from the time.
This Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Am is in sensational, top restored condition and leaves nothing to be desired.
