In the 1920s and 1930s, the Rileys were very competitive racing cars. Thanks to their lightweight, they were even among the leaders in the Le Mans races, despite their small engines.

According to the Riley Register, represented by Barbara Farquhar, this Riley 9 HP Brooklands was attested to be a Percy Riley factory racing car. This Riley was raced in the RAC Tourist Trophy in 1928 and 1929. The extensive history of this Riley 9 HP Brooklands has been summarised by Sandro Binelli’s Automotive Masterpieces and is underpinned by numerous documents.

In the years between 2004 and 2018, many highly sought-after participations in historic racing events were recorded. At the Mille Miglia, this car was represented eight times and achieved eighth place overall as its best result. Other entries included the “Gran Premio Nuvolari”, “300 Miglia del Ducato di Parma e Piacenza” and other very attractive events.
