MGA 1600 Mark II Roadster
First registration 01.1962
Swiss delivery
Swiss road registration with veteran entry
The beautiful MGA 1600 Mark II Roadster offered here was in the last ownership for almost 50 years and was restored there in the past years painstakingly and with love. The last owner unfortunately passed away. He had a car body shop and had always done all the work himself and most carefully. It’s hard to imagine how much personal effort he put into the car during all these years. An original owner’s manual and many invoices are available.
This MGA 1600 Mark II Roadster is technically as well as optically in perfect and top maintained condition and is freshly veteran-approved.
The MGA is a sports car which was produced by the MG division of BMC from 1955 to 1962.
As this series was very different from the previous MG models, it was called “MGA”, meaning that the car was considered the first car of a new series, as a contemporary advertisement depicted it.
Like its predecessor, the MGA was a separate-frame design and had the same BMC B-series engine as the MG Magnette, with power sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car had independent suspension on wishbones and coil springs at the front and a rigid axle suspended on semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear. The rack-and-pinion steering was not power-assisted. The MGA had either steel disc wheels or wire wheels.
