The Maserati Biturbo is a four-seat coupe offered by Italian sports car manufacturer Maserati from 1981 to 1988. Designed by Alejandro de Tomaso, the car was powered by a six-cylinder V-engine, which – giving it its name – was equipped with two turbochargers. The engine was available in various displacement versions, and different expansion stages were also available for each version over time.
The Biturbo was the first model to be completely redesigned by Maserati after it was taken over by Alejandro de Tomaso. De Tomaso wanted to use it to establish Maserati in the field of series manufacturers. The consensus in the literature is that the Biturbo and its successors ensured the survival of the Maserati brand.
