Lagonda LG45 Open Tourer
First registration 09.1937
Swiss road registration with veteran entry
The Lagonda LG45 Open Tourer offered here is one of the famous LG45 series built by Lagonda in the years 1935-1937 after the Le Mans victory of 1935 (Hindmarsh and Fontes). W.O. Bentley was technical director at Lagonda at the time and a guarantor of technical excellence and high quality standards.
In the color combination of light and dark grey with red leather, this LG45 Open Tourer expresses elegance and sportiness at the same time. Over CHF 100,000 has been invested in the car in recent years and it is in a well-kept, well-maintained and very original collector’s condition. A comprehensive expert opinion confirms the condition of this beautiful Lagonda LG45 Open Tourer. The side windows, sprayhood and tarpaulin are present as well as a whole folder full of documents, many invoices, a photo gallery of the engine overhaul, original brochures from 1936 and so on.
In 1913, Lagonda built the world’s first car with a self-supporting body, the 11.1 Coupé.
The brand’s greatest success was the victory of a Lagonda private team in the 1935 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the Lagonda of John Hindmarsh and Luis Fontés ended a four-year winning streak by Alfa Romeo. At the time, Lagonda was competing directly with Aston Martin.
