In 1976, at the Paris Motor Show, the Pininfarina-styled Ferrari 512 “Berlinetta Boxer” was presented to the public as the successor to the Ferrari 365 GT/4 BB. This wedge-shaped mid-engine sports car had a twelve-cylinder engine enlarged to just under five liters, which was titled “Boxer” in the naming, but was constructively a V12 with a 180° cylinder angle. The 512 BB continued to be supplied with fuel by a Weber carburetor factory, but overall ran even more elastically and smoothly than its predecessor.

In 1981, further technical changes were made. Tighter emissions standards in the U.S. meant that the carburetors gave way to mechanical intake manifold injection, changing the 512 BB name to 512 BBi (for iniezione). The fuel injection system was a Bosch K-Jetronic. At the same time, a slight facelift was carried out: the front hood received air outlet grilles in body color, wider tires, new rear fog lights and parking lights. In addition, the front grille became narrower. However, the official BBi sales brochure primarily advertised the now better ventilated backrests of the leather seats.

Only 929 examples of the 512 BB were built, while 1,007 of the later 512 BBi (with double K-Jetronic) were produced. This fact of the small production number, makes the 512 BB/i an absolutely rare and desired car.

With presentation of the Ferrari Testarossa the production of the 512 BBi ran out in 1984.

This Ferrari 512 BBi is in beautiful exceptional condition and leaves nothing to be desired. Very rare and beautiful color combination dark blue / crema. The car was delivered in Switzerland and has always been in the Zurich area. Since 1992 in the last possession with no less than 32’000 km in top original condition. The service booklet is present and cleanly led, exhaust passport absolutely without gaps.

The on-board tools, the original Ferrari on-board folder with manual as well as a beautiful, two-piece suitcase set are included in the vehicle. Also included are various parts and accessories such as 4 extra wheels, wheel hubs, Tubi Style muffler, fan manifold, car cover and a charger.

The last major maintenance with timing belt was performed in August 2022 by known Ferrari specialist. In this Ferrari 512 BBi was invested in the last 30 years over CHF 140’000.- for maintenance and perfection.
