BMW Z8
First Registration 2001
Original Swiss Delievery
39‘000 km
The design, with a wide BMW kidney and side air intakes, was inspired by the 507 roadster produced from 1956 to 1959 and was created by Henrik Fisker. The interior was designed by Mike Ninic and Bruno Amatino, the steering wheel by David Carp. A study under the designation “Z 07”, supervised by Adrian van Hooydonk and David Carp in close coordination with the designers Fisker and Ninic, was already on display at the 1997 Motor Show in Tokyo and in 1998 in Detroit. A total of only 5703 examples were manufactured by hand.
The 4.40-meter-long, 1.83-meter-wide and 1.31-meter-high roadster has the 5.0-liter V8 engine from the BMW M5 (E39S). The engine produces a maximum of 294 kW (400 hp) and accelerates the Z8 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
The body of the Z8 consists of a self-supporting aluminum frame with a bolted-on outer skin. This type of construction makes the body relatively light and extremely torsionally stiff. The side sill panels and the front and rear bumpers with integrated antennas for the radio, navigation and telephone are made of polyurethane and are elastically deformable up to an impact speed of 4 km/h.
The interior offers space for two people. The leather-covered seats are heated and electrically adjustable. The steering wheel with three spokes, each consisting of four thin metal rods, is reminiscent of the style of the 1950s. The classic impression is reinforced by the round instruments located in the center of the dashboard and the starter button. The BMW Z8 could only be ordered exclusively with full equipment.
This BMW Z8 was delivered new to Switzerland (Titan AG Zurich) and comes with original 39’000 km. The vehicle history is very well documented and comes with neatly kept records, such as the original service booklet and on-board folder. Additionally present is the original hardtop and hardtop stand. The Z8 comes fresh from service and MOT.
This is a unique opportunity to acquire a Swiss BMW Z8 in great original condition.
