Bentley S3 Continental
First registration 02.1963
1 of only 3 examples in aluminum with left-hand drive
Matching numbers and color
FIVA Identity Card
Swiss road registration with veteran entry
In April 1963, the chassis of the Bentley S3 Continental offered here was delivered to H.J. Mulliner for bodywork. The warranty issue dates from July 19, 1963 and one day later the new/first delivery in the color Black Pearl and leather interior Oxblood Red, to Whitney Warren Jr. in California. This is one of only 3 aluminum examples built with left-hand drive. This S3 Continental is known as the “Queen of America” – Whitney Warren Jr., who hosted the royals in November 1965, allegedly took Princess Margaret Rose and Lord Snowdon for a spin through San Francisco. In 1969 and again in 1970, he was Class Winner at Pebble Beach twice in a row – listed in Robert T Devlin’s book “Pebble Beach, a matter of style”. The original awards such as the trophy and the plaque are still present.
A few years ago, the engine, gearbox and mechanics were overhauled and the paintwork and chrome refurbished. The interior is original and unrestored.
The car is fully documented with a complete ownership history, three folders full of documents, invoices, articles, etc. The original owner’s manual, operating instructions, history book with delivery papers/specifications, test card etc. are present. This beautiful Bentley S3 Continental is matching numbers and color as well as veteran-approved, has a FIVA Identity Card and is in top maintained, very original collector’s condition.
